Hynt is a 'gamified' mobile messaging service that helps build anticipation and excitement for everyday moments; it lets users send hidden messages, and instructions ('hynts') on how to reveal them. Messages can be set to reveal at a future time (based on a clock) or when 3 friends 'like' the message.
At its core, Hynt enables a new format of B2C and C2C communication that is more engaging, interactive, and participatory, and has implications for brand marketing and mobile messaging. Hynt is differentiated from all existing messaging and social media platforms (e.g. FB, Twitter, Instagram), which enable easy sharing of content but do not have any 'built-in' mechanics to necessitate audience participation. Hynt aims to change this by tying message delivery to audience participation. Users on Hynt can create 'locked messages' and set conditions for their audiences to unlock them. People receiving a hynt need to perform simple and fun actions in order to reveal the message. Examples fo hynt message template mechanics are 'like to reveal', 'check in to reveal', 'invite friends to reveal', etc. The more actions a user performs, the closer they get to revealing a locked message. This approach of engaging audiences in simple digital actions is akin to activity in online social games, where users advance in levels or win prizes as they progress through a game. Audience participation leads to higher engagement and higher volume of content creation, which are two critical characteristics that drive engagement goals for individual users and corporate brands on any digital platform.
